Flashing Guide for BMC in COM-HPC Ampere Altra Dev Kit using IPMI web GUIThis documentation provides step-by-step instructions for flashing the BMC firmware on the ADLINK COM-HPC Ampere Altra Dev Kit. Follow these steps carefully to ensure a successful installation. There are 2 ways that you can follow to flash the BMC firmware. You can choose either one based on your convenience. Windows Host Users Linux Host Users Prerequisites Ampere Altra Development Board Windows/Linux PC with an Ethernet port Ethernet Cable Download Firmware for COM-HPC Ampere Altra Dev Kit Download the firmware ZIP file for the COM-HPC Ampere Altra Dev Kit on the host PC click here. Extract the contents of the downloaded file adlink-ast2500-bmc.zip into your preferred directory. This package contains pre-built binaries and image files. Flashing the BMC Firmware using IPMI web GUIPreparations Turn on your Ampere Altra Development Platform, and connect your host machine to the IPMI_LAN port of the development platform using an Ethernet cable, following the illustration provided below. To establish a connection between Ampere Altra Development Board and the host PC follow the below steps Windows Host Go to the Control panel and change the Ethernet Adapter settings as shown below Modify the values as shown below - IP address : 192.168.0.XX - Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 - Default gateway : 192.168.0 <img src="firmware_Flashing-BMC-via-IPMI.assets/BMC_Win_Config_6.png" /> Linux Host Go to the settings and and change the Ethernet Adapter settings as shown below Modify the values as shown below IP address : 192.168.0.XX Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 Default gateway : 192.168.0.1 Flashing Process On your host machine, open a browser and enter “https://192.168.0.100“. Ignore the security risk warning message and proceed to access the web interface, as shown below: Use the following credentials on the login page: Username: admin, Password: admin. After logging in, you’ll be redirected to the dashboard. Navigate to [Maintenance] > [Firmware Information] to check the current BMC version and Active image ID. Go to [Maintenance] > [Dual Firmware Update] and change the “Image to be updated” to the current active image (e.g., Image 2). Enable the “Preserve all Configuration” checkbox. Browse and select the “rom.ima” file from the “adlink-ast2500-bmc.zip“ directory in the downloaded firmware files. Click “Start firmware update.” Confirm by clicking “Ok” in the prompted window. After the firmware is successfully uploaded, click “Flash selected sections” to begin the flashing process. Click “Ok” in the prompt shown below. The Ampere Altra Development Board will reboot, and the webpage will reload for a new session. Log in again and go to [Maintenance] > [Firmware Information] to check the updated BMC version.
